This role is designed for someone who can understand operational pain points quickly, convert them into practical automation opportunities, and deliver adoption-ready solutions that improve speed, quality, control and stakeholder experience. The ideal candidate combines structured business analysis with a maker mindset: able to map processes, define requirements, build low-code/agentic solutions, partner with technology teams, and track outcomes through clear KPIs. Hands-on data capability remains important, but the emphasis is on using data, AI and automation to transform recurring operational work, not on deep engineering or specialist BI development. Royalties, rights, licensing, finance operations, publishing/media or revenue-share experience will be a strong advantage, particularly where it supports understanding of contracts, statements, payments, deductions, reserves, exceptions, approvals and audit sensitivity. **Key Objectives - What Success Looks Like** + Create practical AI agents and guided automations that reduce manual effort, improve response quality and accelerate decision-making across Rights & Royalties operations. + Simplify and standardise recurring workflows such as exception triage, approvals, reconciliations, case routing, notifications, quality checks and reporting packs. + Deliver measurable efficiency gains through cycle-time reduction, lower rework, improved SLA performance, better adoption and stronger process controls. + Translate ambiguous operational problems into clear requirements, user stories, acceptance criteria and adoption plans. + Enable operational leaders with concise, self-serve visibility into risks, bottlenecks, productivity, quality and customer impact. **Core Responsibilities** **1) Process Transformation & Business Analysis** + Conduct rapid discovery of current-state processes, pain points, root causes, handoffs, control gaps and duplication across Rights, Royalties and related Finance Operations. + Design future-state workflows using a transformation lens: Simplify -> Standardise -> Automate -> Augment with AI -> Scale. + Convert business needs into crisp requirements, user stories, process maps, acceptance criteria and measurable business outcomes. + Prioritise opportunities based on effort, impact, control risk, adoption readiness and efficiency potential. + Support UAT, adoption, change communication, training aids and post-launch benefit tracking. **2) Agent Creation & AI-enabled Solutions** + Help design, configure and improve business-facing agents using Microsoft Copilot Studio and the Microsoft 365 / Power Platform ecosystem. + Translate operational use cases into agent capabilities such as document review support, answer retrieval, exception explanation, guided decisioning, case summarisation and next-best-action recommendations. + Define agent knowledge sources, prompts/instructions, guardrails, escalation paths, testing scenarios, success metrics and adoption feedback loops. + Partner with technology, governance and business stakeholders to ensure agents are controlled, explainable, secure, measurable and fit for production use. + Identify where agents should be combined with workflows, for example where AI reasoning is needed within a structured approval, triage or notification process. **3) Workflow Automation & Operational Enablement** + Build or support low-code automations using Power Automate, Copilot Studio workflows and connected Microsoft 365 services. + Automate high-volume, rule-led and repeatable activities including validations, approvals, reminders, case routing, exception logging, report refreshes and stakeholder notifications. + Design automations with appropriate audit trails, handoffs, fallback logic, approval controls, ownership and maintainability. + Work with operations teams to ensure automation is embedded into daily routines rather than remaining as a standalone tool. **4) Insights, KPIs & Benefit Realisation** + Define outcome-led KPI frameworks for automation and process transformation, focused on hours saved, cycle time, quality, SLA, adoption, controls and customer impact. + Use dashboards and reporting tools to monitor transformation outcomes, bottlenecks, adoption and benefit delivery. + Perform practical analysis to identify trends, anomalies and improvement opportunities related to royalty statements, adjustments, disputes, metadata, reserves, payments or case volumes. + Prepare concise executive-ready summaries that convert analysis into business decisions and action plans. **5) Governance, Controls & Documentation** + Create and maintain process documentation, SOPs, decision logs, control points, KPI definitions and adoption materials. + Ensure automation and agent assets have clear ownership, change control, traceability, testing evidence and governance alignment. + Strengthen audit readiness through reconciliation checkpoints, exception logs, approval matrices and documented process logic. **Typical Outcomes / KPIs You May Own** + Automation and agent benefit realisation: hours saved, cost avoidance, productivity uplift and reduced manual touchpoints. + Cycle-time and SLA improvement across targeted royalty, rights, finance operations or query-management workflows. + Reduction in rework, avoidable escalations, duplicate handling, leakage risk and control exceptions. + Agent and automation adoption: active users, usage frequency, completion rate, deflection rate, satisfaction and feedback themes. + Quality and reliability: successful workflow runs, exception rates, data accuracy, audit trail completeness and refresh reliability. **Required Skills & Experience** + 3-4 years experience in a Business Analyst, Transformation Analyst, Automation Analyst, Process Analyst, Product Operations or comparable role. + Strong process discovery and problem-solving capability, with the ability to simplify complex operational work into clear, actionable requirements. + Hands-on exposure to Microsoft Power Platform, preferably Power Automate and Copilot Studio, or a demonstrable ability to build low-code automations and AI-enabled business solutions. + Ability to define agent or automation use cases, map workflows, document requirements, test outputs, manage feedback and support adoption. + Strong stakeholder management across Operations, Finance, Product/Technology, BI/Engineering, Compliance or Legal stakeholders. + Good analytical capability and comfort working with operational data, KPIs and dashboards. Familiarity with SQL, Tableau, Looker, BigQuery or similar tools is useful, but not the primary focus of the role. + Excellent communication skills: concise documentation, clear visuals, executive-ready summaries and practical training materials. + Outcome ownership and delivery pace: able to move from discovery to MVP to adoption with discipline and urgency. **Preferred / Advantageous** + Exposure to royalties, rights, licensing, publishing/media, revenue-share, finance operations or contract-driven processes. + Understanding of the royalty lifecycle: contract terms, rate structures, deductions, reserves, statements, payments, recoupment, audit queries and dispute handling. + Experience with ServiceNow, SharePoint, Teams, Excel-based operations, document repositories or workflow-heavy operational environments. + Familiarity with process mapping tools such as Blueworks, Visio or Lucidchart; Lean, continuous improvement or process re-engineering methods. + Awareness of responsible AI, data privacy, access control, knowledge-source hygiene and governance considerations for enterprise agents. **Qualifications** + Bachelor degree in Finance, Commerce, Accounting, Business, Operations, IT, Data Analytics or a related discipline. + Postgraduate qualification such as MBA, PG Diploma in Business Analytics, Operations, Finance or Transformation is a differentiator, not mandatory. + Relevant certifications in Power Platform, Copilot Studio, automation, business analysis, Lean/process improvement, data analytics or BI are advantageous. **Behavioural** **Competencies - Non-negotiable for Transformation** + Agentic mindset: thinks beyond reporting and looks for ways to remove, automate or augment work. + Adaptability, speed and agility:moves quickly from ambiguity to working MVPs and iterates based on feedback. + Outcome ownership: focuses on measurable improvement, not activity completion. + Structured problem-solving: separates symptoms from root cause and prioritises by business impact and control risk. + Precision and control mindset: understands the financial, contractual and audit sensitivity of royalties operations. + Collaboration and influence: earns trust across operations and technology, handles competing priorities and drives closure. **Working Relationships** Works closely with Rights & Royalties Operations, Finance Operations, Transformation leads, Product/Technology, BI/Engineering, Compliance/Legal and operational leaders. Acts as a process transformation, agent enablement and automation partner to teams looking to improve efficiency, control and customer experience. **What This Role Offers** + High-visibility transformation scope with measurable business impact in a financially sensitive and globally relevant domain. + Opportunity to build modern agentic automation capabilities across Rights & Royalties operations. + Strong cross-functional exposure across Rights, Royalties, Finance, Product, Technology and Governance teams. + A practical platform to convert process knowledge into scalable digital and AI-enabled solutions. **Who we are:** At Pearson, our purpose is simple: to help people realize the life they imagine through learning.
