(Senior) Development Platform Operations Engineer

We are looking for a highly motivated Development Platform Operations Engineer to join the Environment Management & FinOps team. You will play a key role in ensuring that our global development and test environments are reliable, secure, cost-efficient, and available for engineering teams across all regions. Working closely with Platform Engineering, Product Teams, Security, and Cloud Infrastructure teams, you will be responsible for operating, maintaining, monitoring, and continuously improving our development platforms and shared infrastructure across Google Cloud Platform (GCP), Microsoft Azure, AWS, and on-premises environments. This is a hands-on technical role focused on operational excellence, automation, cloud infrastructure, monitoring, FinOps, and development environment administration. What would do: Environment Operations - Operate and maintain shared development and test environments. - Ensure environments are healthy, available, and ready before each regional business day. - Manage the complete lifecycle of development environments, including provisioning, maintenance, upgrades, and decommissioning. - Support a global follow-the-sun operating model across APAC, EMEA, and the Americas. - Coordinate planned maintenance activities while minimizing disruption to engineering teams. Cloud & Infrastructure Operations Operate and maintain cloud-native development platforms and supporting infrastructure across: - Google Cloud Platform (GCP) - Microsoft Azure - Amazon Web Services (AWS) - Internal Developer Platform (Kubernetes-based) - Virtual Machines - Windows and Linux servers - On-premises infrastructure - Hyper-V environments - Shared Engineering Services Ensure the platform remains secure, scalable, resilient, and highly available. Monitoring & Operational Support - Continuously monitor infrastructure health and availability. - Monitor overnight builds, deployments, automated jobs, and platform services. - Investigate alerts and proactively resolve issues before they impact engineering teams. - Perform incident response, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis. - Participate in operational support and on-call rotations. - Improve monitoring, alerting, and observability across the platform. Development Platform Administration Administer and support the organization's shared development platforms and engineering services, including: - Internal Developer Platform (Kubernetes-based) - Jenkins - GitLab - Build agents - Deployment agents - Performance testing infrastructure - Shared development services Responsibilities include platform administration, troubleshooting, performance optimization, lifecycle management, and supporting engineering teams with reli able and secure development environments. Access & Environment Administration Manage user access and permissions across development platforms, including: - Okta - Google Cloud Platform (IAM) - GitLab - Shared cloud resources - Internal development platforms Support access requests, permission reviews, and access governance while maintaining security best practices. Infrastructure Maintenance - Apply operating system and infrastructure patches. - Maintain certificates, secrets, and platform configurations. - Perform platform upgrades and lifecycle maintenance. - Coordinate maintenance windows. - Support vulnerability remediation. - Ensure environments remain secure and compliant with organizational standards. FinOps & Capacity Management Support cloud cost optimization initiatives by: - Monitoring cloud spend across development environments. - Identifying unused or underutilized resources. - Recommending cost optimization opportunities. - Monitoring infrastructure utilization and capacity trends. - Helping engineering teams optimize resource consumption. Automation & Continuous Improvement Develop and maintain automation for: - Environment provisioning - Environment cleanup - Operational maintenance - Health verification - Monitoring - Routine operational tasks - Infrastructure lifecycle management Continuously identify opportunities to eliminate manual work through automation and standardization. Reporting & Governance Produce and maintain operational reporting covering: - Environment availability - SLA compliance - Incident trends - Environment health - Capacity utilization - Cloud costs - Operational KPIs Contribute to governance by ensuring environments are properly documented, monitored, maintained, and aligned with operational standards Why we should decide on you - Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience. - Several years of experience in Platform Engineering, DevOps, Cloud Operations, Infrastructure Engineering, or a similar role. - Experience supporting business-critical development platforms and cloud infrastructure. Technical Skills Cloud & Infrastructure - Google Cloud Platform (preferred), Microsoft Azure and/or AWS. - Kubernetes administration and operations. - Virtual Machines (Windows & Linux). - Docker and container technologies. - Infrastructure as Code (Terraform preferred). Operating Systems - Linux administration. - Windows Server administration.
