Job Description - Job Title: Database Administrator (Oracle & PostgreSQL) Experience: 7-13years Location: Hyderabad Role Overview We are seeking two experienced Database Administrators (DBAs) with strong expertise in Oracle and PostgreSQL relational databases to support critical enterprise applications. The role involves ensuring database availability, performance, security, and reliability across development, testing, and production environments. The DBAs will play a key role in database operations, optimisation, incident management, and platform modernisation initiatives, working closely with engineering, data, and infrastructure teams. - Role Responsibilities Database Administration & Operations •Administer, monitor, and maintain Oracle and PostgreSQL databases across environments •Perform database installation, configuration, patching, and upgrades •Manage database users, roles, and access controls, ensuring secure privilege management •Ensure high availability and reliability through clustering, replication, and failover setups Performance & Optimisation •Analyse and optimise database performance (SQL tuning, indexing, query optimisation) •Identify bottlenecks and implement improvements to enhance system performance •Monitor database health using enterprise monitoring tools Backup, Recovery & Resilience •Design and manage robust backup and recovery strategies (RMAN, logical backups, etc.) •Perform disaster recovery planning and testing •Ensure data integrity and consistency across environments Incident & Problem Management •Provide L2/L3 production support, including on-call support where required •Troubleshoot database issues and resolve incidents within defined SLAs •Support 24x7 operational environments in line with enterprise support models Database Development Support •Support developers with database objects such as: Stored procedures, functions, triggers Tables, indexes, views, partitions •Assist with data migration and environment refresh activities Security & Compliance •Implement and maintain database security best practices •Support audits and compliance requirements •Ensure adherence to organisational data governance and risk frameworks Automation & Continuous Improvement •Automate routine DBA tasks using scripting (Shell, Python, etc.) •Contribute to CI/CD pipelines for database deployments •Continuously improve database processes, standards, and documentation - Required Skills & Experience Core Technical Skills •Strong hands-on experience with: Oracle Database (11g/12c/19c or above) PostgreSQL (v11 or above) •Proficient in: SQL and PL/SQL Database performance tuning Backup & recovery tools •Experience in database monitoring, troubleshooting, and optimisation Nice to Have •Experience with cloud platforms (AWS RDS, Azure, GCP) •Exposure to database migration (Oracle ↔ PostgreSQL) •Knowledge of DevOps tools and CI/CD pipelines Experience Required • Proven experience supporting production-grade, high-volume systems •Experience in banking / financial services environments (desirable) Soft Skills •Strong problem-solving and analytical thinking •Effective communication and stakeholder management •Ability to work in cross-functional agile teams •Ownership mindset with focus on reliability and continuous improvement Key Deliverables •Stable and high-performing database platforms •Timely resolution of incidents and issues •Improved database performance and automation •Compliance with security and governance standards
