Solution Architect (INTL - Hyderabad India) - Nova Domestic

Job Description We are seeking an experienced Solution Architect to lead the design and modernization of large-scale, distributed, event-driven platforms. This individual will provide technical leadership across multiple engineering teams, drive architectural standards, and design scalable cloud-native solutions supporting high-volume retail and supply chain systems. The ideal candidate has a strong background in Java microservices, Kafka-based architectures, Cassandra, cloud platforms, and legacy modernization, with prior experience in the Walmart technology ecosystem. Key Responsibilities Own end-to-end architecture for large-scale distributed microservice platforms. Design and implement event-driven architectures using Kafka, CDC patterns, and workflow orchestration tools. Lead architecture reviews, technical design decisions, and engineering governance across multiple teams. Partner with Product, Engineering, and Platform teams to develop scalable, multi-tenant solutions. Drive modernization initiatives, including mainframe-to-cloud migrations. Establish standards for reliability, performance, security, scalability, and observability. Mentor senior engineers and provide technical leadership across teams of 15+ engineers. Ensure alignment with enterprise architecture standards, CI/CD practices, and cloud-native development principles. Skills and Requirements Required Qualifications Experience Prior Walmart technology experience required. 8+ years of Java/Spring Boot development building enterprise microservices. 5+ years designing distributed, event-driven systems. 3+ years working with Apache Kafka and event streaming architectures. 3+ years working with Apache Cassandra, including data modeling and performance tuning. 3+ years serving as a Solution Architect, Principal Engineer, or Technical Lead. 2+ years deploying applications on Kubernetes (WCNP preferred). Core Technical Skills Java / Spring Boot Apache Kafka Apache Cassandra Kubernetes (WCNP preferred) Temporal or Cadence workflow orchestration GraphQL (Netflix DGS preferred) CDC technologies (Debezium, Kafka Connect) Elasticsearch or OpenSearch CI/CD tooling (Looper, Jenkins, GitHub Actions) BigQuery or similar cloud data warehouse Experience with Walmart technologies including WCNP, Strati, Electrode, and Looper. Experience modernizing legacy platforms (IMS, DB2, COBOL, Mainframe). Background in Order Management, Supply Chain, Retail, or E-commerce platforms. Experience building multi-tenant or SaaS platforms. PostgreSQL experience. React / Electrode / Node.js experience. Knowledge of retail processes including purchase orders, replenishment, and supplier management. Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA) or similar certification.
