Job Description

Job Description Insight Global is seeking a TBM Analyst to support a large software client of ours. This analyst supports the organization's technology cost transparency and IT financial management practice. Working within the TBM taxonomy on the Apptio platform, the analyst collects and validates financial and operational data, builds and maintains the cost models that translate IT spend into towers, services, and business-facing views, and produces reporting that helps IT and business leaders understand what technology costs, what drives those costs, and where value is created. The role sits at the intersection of finance, IT operations, and data analysis, and is hands-on in Apptio Costing and Planning. Responsibilities: - Configure data sources and transforms, author and adjust allocation rules and the object-to-object relationships that move spend from cost sources through cost pools, towers, and services to consumers, and maintain the underlying taxonomy in TBM Studio. - Own the monthly model refresh, reconcile outputs to source, and troubleshoot mapping gaps, allocation leakage, and unallocated cost. - Maintain the plan structure and templates, manage plan lines and drivers, run the budgeting and forecasting cycle, reconcile plan to actuals, and support planners through data entry, reviews, and approvals. - Collect, validate, and reconcile financial data (GL, budgets, actuals, forecasts) and operational data (asset inventories, consumption metrics, headcount, vendor contracts) from source systems. - Investigate and resolve variances, unmapped costs, and data quality issues; trace numbers from published reports back through the allocation chain to source. - Produce recurring reporting and dashboards: bill of IT, tower costs, unit costs, showback/chargeback, and budget-vs-actual analysis. - Support the annual planning and forecasting cycle with cost baselines, trend analysis, and scenario modeling. - Partner with IT service and application owners, finance business partners, and vendor management to source inputs and validate outputs. - Translate model outputs into clear narratives and recommendations for cost optimization, rate setting, and consumption decisions. - Document model logic, allocation assumptions, and processes so the work is auditable and transferable. We are a company committed to creating diverse and inclusive environments where people can bring their full, authentic selves to work every day. We are an equal opportunity/affirmative action employer that believes everyone matters. Qualified candidates will receive consideration for employment regardless of their race, color, ethnicity, religion, sex (including pregnancy), sexual orientation, gender identity and expression, marital status, national origin, ancestry, genetic factors, age, disability, protected veteran status, military or uniformed service member status, or any other status or characteristic protected by applicable laws, regulations, and ordinances. Skills and Requirements - 2 to 4 years in IT finance, FP&A, cost/management accounting, business analysis, or data analysis. - Hands-on Apptio experience is required. The successful candidate has personally built or maintained an Apptio Costing model in TBM Studio and run a planning cycle in Apptio IT Planning, and can demonstrate this in a working session (for example, tracing an allocation or explaining a transform), not merely describe it. - Strong financial literacy: cost allocation, budgeting, variance analysis, and how IT spend flows through a P&L or GL. - Advanced Excel; comfort working with large, imperfect datasets and reconciling across sources. - Analytical rigor and attention to data quality, with the ability to trace numbers back to source and explain drivers. - Clear written and verbal communication; able to explain financial concepts to technical audiences and technical concepts to finance audiences.
