Data Team Lead

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Data Team Lead based in India. This is a senior leadership role focused on shaping and scaling a high-performing data engineering function that powers data-driven marketing, customer experience, and AI-enabled solutions. You will sit at the intersection of data architecture, analytics, and applied machine learning, translating business needs into scalable technical systems. The role involves leading distributed teams, driving technical strategy, and ensuring delivery excellence across multiple client engagements. You will play a key part in defining how modern data platforms, pipelines, and AI capabilities are designed and operationalized. The environment is fast-paced, collaborative, and highly client-focused, requiring both strategic thinking and hands-on technical depth. You will also contribute directly to business impact by enabling smarter decision-making through reliable, high-quality data systems. Accountabilities: - Lead, mentor, and scale a high-performing team of data engineers and data scientists, ensuring strong delivery and technical excellence - Define and drive data architecture strategy, engineering standards, and best practices across all data initiatives - Oversee end-to-end delivery of data platforms, pipelines, analytics systems, and AI/ML-enabled solutions - Identify and drive AI/ML opportunities for automation, optimization, and intelligent data activation - Ensure robust data governance, security, compliance, and quality across all systems and workflows - Collaborate with CRM, growth, and strategy teams to align technical solutions with business objectives - Engage with clients to translate requirements into scalable, production-ready data solutions - Manage and optimize cloud, CDP, and data infrastructure for performance, scalability, and cost efficiency Requirements: - 7+ years in engineering leadership roles within data engineering, analytics, or AI-driven environments - 10+ years of hands-on experience in modern data engineering and distributed system design - Strong expertise in data platforms such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Databricks, or equivalent - Experience with CDPs and data integration tools such as Segment, mParticle, or similar - Deep understanding of data architecture, governance, security, and scalable system design principles - Familiarity with AI/ML ecosystems and orchestration tools (Airflow, dbt, MLflow, etc.) - Strong cloud experience across AWS, Azure, or GCP with DevOps/CI-CD exposure - Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills across technical and non-technical audiences - Experience in consulting, agency, or client-facing delivery environments preferred - Strong leadership skills with proven ability to hire, mentor, and scale engineering teams Benefits: - Remote-first work environment with global collaboration - Competitive compensation for senior leadership roles - Opportunity to lead large-scale data and AI transformation programs - Fast-paced environment with strong career growth opportunities - Exposure to modern data, AI, and cloud technologies - Ownership-driven and collaborative culture - Access to diverse client projects across industries - Continuous learning and professional development opportunities How Jobgether works: We use an AI-powered matching process to ensure your application is reviewed quickly, objectively, and fairly against the role's core requirements.
