The ideal candidate will have strong expertise in **Java, Spring Boot, REST APIs, GraphQL, Microservices Architecture, and Cloud-native application development** . You will work closely with architects, product managers, and cross-functional engineering teams to build scalable, secure, and high-performance enterprise applications. This role requires a hands-on engineer who can drive technical excellence, collaborate with onshore leads and product teams on complex integrations, mentor junior developers, and deliver high-quality software solutions. **Key Responsibilities** + Design, develop, test, and maintain scalable backend applications using **Java and Spring Boot** . + Build and enhance **RESTful APIs** and **GraphQL APIs** to support enterprise-scale applications. + Design and develop **microservices-based architectures** with high availability and resilience. + Collaborate with product owners, architects, and business stakeholders to understand requirements and translate them into technical solutions. + Develop secure, performant, and reusable application components. + Participate in architecture reviews, design discussions, and technical decision-making. + Optimize application performance, scalability, and reliability. + Implement automated unit tests, integration tests, and CI/CD pipelines. + Troubleshoot and resolve production issues while ensuring application stability. + Mentor junior developers and promote engineering best practices. + Ensure adherence to coding standards, security guidelines, and software development best practices. + Participate in Agile ceremonies including sprint planning, daily stand-ups, retrospectives, and backlog grooming. **Required Qualifications** + Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field. + **5+ years of hands-on experience** in software development. + Strong programming expertise in **Java 8/11/17+** . + Extensive experience with **Spring Boot** , **Spring MVC** and knowledge on **Spring Security** . + Strong knowledge of **GraphQL** development and API design principles. + Experience building and consuming **REST APIs** . + Strong understanding of **Microservices Architecture** . + Experience with relational databases such as: + PostgreSQL (preferred) + DB2 + MySQL + Experience with NoSQL databases such as: + MongoDB + **Cassandra** (preferred) + Hands-on experience with: + Git + Maven/Gradle + **Jenkins/GitHub Actions/Azure DevOps** + Experience with container technologies: + Docker + Kubernetes/OpenShift + Quality & Reliability + Write unit, integration, and component tests using **JUnit, Mockito, Camel Test, Karate** + Ensure observability using **Splunk** / **Datadog** + Follow secure coding practices and address vulnerabilities using **Fortify** , **BlackDuck** , **Twistlock** , **SonarQube** + Strong understanding of design patterns, object-oriented programming, and software engineering principles. + Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments. + Excellent problem-solving, communication, and collaboration skills. **Preferred Qualifications** + Experience with cloud platforms: + Azure (preferred) + AWS + Google Cloud Platform (GCP) + Knowledge of API Gateway technologies. + Experience with observability and monitoring tools: + Splunk + Datadog (preferred) + Exposure to Domain-Driven Design (DDD). + Understanding of DevSecOps practices. + Experience working in large-scale enterprise or GCC environments. + Prior mentoring or technical leadership experience. **Technical Skills Matrix** **Backend Technologies** + Java 8/11/17+ Spring Boot + Spring MVC + Spring Security + Hibernate or any JPA **API Technologies** + GraphQL + REST APIs + OpenAPI/Swagger + API Security (OAuth2, JWT) **Databases** + PostgreSQL + MySQL + Oracle + MongoDB **Cloud & DevOps** + Azure / AWS / GCP + Docker + Kubernetes + CI/CD Pipelines + Jenkins + GitHub Actions + Azure DevOps **Messaging & Event Streaming** + Kafka + RabbitMQ **Monitoring & Logging** + Splunk + Datadog + Prometheus + ELK Stack **Success Measures** The successful candidate will: + Deliver high-quality, scalable backend solutions. + Design robust GraphQL and REST APIs. + Improve system performance and reliability. + Contribute to engineering standards and best practices. + Mentor team members and drive technical excellence. + Collaborate effectively across distributed global teams. **Location expectations** This role requires working from a U.S. Bank location three (3) or more days per week.
