Job Description
We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled SQL Server Database Administrator to manage, optimize, and secure enterprise SQL Server environments. This role requires strong hands-on expertise in performance tuning, high availability and disaster recovery (HA/DR), automation, Azure SQL platforms, and production support. Key Responsibilities - Manage and support SQL Server environments (2012–2022) across production and non-production systems - Perform advanced performance tuning using execution plans, Query Store, DMVs, and wait statistics - Troubleshoot complex database issues including locking, blocking, deadlocks, memory grants, TempDB, and I/O bottlenecks - Design and maintain robust backup and recovery strategies, including point-in-time recovery and disaster recovery drills - Implement and support HA/DR solutions (Always On Availability Groups, Failover Clusters, Log Shipping, Replication, CDC) - Execute SQL Server upgrades, patching, and version migrations with minimal downtime - Implement and maintain SQL Server security features including TDE, encryption, auditing, and role-based access control - Automate routine maintenance and monitoring tasks using T-SQL, SQL Agent, and PowerShell - Support Azure SQL workloads (Azure SQL Database, Managed Instance, SQL on Azure VM) - Drive incident resolution, root cause analysis (RCA), and long-term preventive improvements - Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and security teams for controlled production deployments and CI/CD initiatives - Focus on proactive monitoring, capacity planning, and regular performance health checks Requirements - 7+ years of hands-on SQL Server DBA experience in production environments - Strong expertise in SQL Server architecture and internals (Buffer Pool, Plan Cache, Transaction Log, TempDB) - Advanced query and server-level performance tuning skills - Deep understanding of Always On AGs, FCI, Replication, CDC, and Log Shipping - Strong experience with backup, restore, and disaster recovery scenarios - Solid knowledge of SQL Server security and compliance controls - Experience with automation and scripting (T-SQL, PowerShell) - Working knowledge of Azure SQL and monitoring tools - Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field (or equivalent experience) - Strong troubleshooting ability, communication skills, and ownership mindset
