You will take ownership of the overall software architecture for the D3Apps, IDUN, and postprocessing toolchains, ensuring a cohesive, scalable, and future?proof platform that enables developers, simulation and test engineers to manage data, automate workflows, execute simulations, analyze results, and produce reports efficiently. In this cross?functional role you will independently coordinate interfaces, data models and technological evolution across tightly coupled systems, introduce agent?based work processes, and lead their implementation on BMW AI platforms. If you enjoy solving complex integration challenges and delivering high?impact engineering tools that directly accelerate vehicle development, this role gives you the opportunity to influence both technical direction and product adoption across international teams. | What should you bring along | - Proven experience as a software or system architect in complex, cross?functional engineering environments. - Strong collaboration skills to work with simulation engineers, developers, test engineers and platform teams. - Hands?on mindset with the ability to translate high?level architecture into executable roadmaps and deliverables. - Experience coordinating interfaces, data models and dependencies across multi?component toolchains. - Practical knowledge of cloud deployment, containerization and platform operations. - Familiarity with AI/agentic system concepts and how they integrate into engineering workflows. - Good communication skills in English (please confirm if additional languages are required). | Must have technical skill | - Software, system and integration architecture. - Cloud architecture with AWS experience and container orchestration. - Interface and API design; integration experience with MBS / Simpack / HPC environments. - Data architecture and data modeling for large engineering datasets. - DevOps practices: CI/CD pipelines, security, testing and operational readiness. - Demonstrable experience with software lifecycle management in engineering toolchains. | Good to have Technical skills | - Hands?on experience with AI tooling for software development (e.g., GitHub Copilot) and governance of AI?assisted development. - Practical knowledge of building or operating agent?based systems and platform integration. - Experience with specific D3Apps or IDUN (if available) or similar engineering data/workflow platforms. - Prior exposure to vehicle dynamics domain or close collaboration with CAE/simulation teams. - Experience with workflow automation and reporting toolchains for engineering analysis. |
