Job Description
This position is responsible for the design, development, operation, and maintenance of IT computer systems and JD Edwards ERP HR software applications. The engineer applies technical knowledge to define strategic direction within the discipline and to solve complex business problems through a systematic, disciplined approach, using software, hardware, and communication technologies. Key environment: JDE application version 8.12 on a DB2 database running on an IBM i (AS/400) system. The candidate must be able to query the DB2 database on the AS/400 to research and resolve issues. Discipline-specific duties: - Apply engineering principles to the design, development, and testing of JD Edwards Human Capital Management. - Build solutions using JDE technologies such as RDA, FDA, TDA, NER, BSFN, OMW, ER Compare, Visual Studio, and data dictionary tools. - Design, support, configure, and maintain JDE application settings, processing options, data structures, data dictionary, user overrides, data sources, and application database middleware. Requirements - Design, develop, and implement computer systems and software applications. - Plan, design, and implement complex functional and technical application/system-level designs. - Define interdependencies with other disciplines; participate in testing and certification. - Support, operate, and maintain computer systems and software applications. - Apply methods and procedures per SDLC and IT industry standards/best practices as defined by Royal Caribbean Cruises, Ltd. - Stay current with industry trends to prototype and recommend technical approaches. - Travel as necessary to perform job duties. - Perform other job-related duties as assigned. Requirements - Ability to code RPG/400, CL/400, and SQL/400 on an IBM i (AS/400) system. - Ability to query a DB2 database on the AS/400 (IBM i) system. - JDE E1 8.12 HCM/HR functional and technical knowledge. - Bachelor's degree in a relevant specialty (may be required). - 5+ years of experience in the field or a related area. - Strong knowledge within the specific area of responsibility. Knowledge and skills: - Subject matter expertise in computer science, engineering, or a related discipline. - Ability to formulate, communicate, and implement technical solutions. - Proven ability to collaborate with technical peers. - Capable of working independently with minimal supervision; may lead or direct the work of others. - Creativity with strong analytical and problem-solving skills. - Strong command of methodologies, tools, best practices, and processes. - Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
