Refractory Engineer

Job Title: Refractory Engineer Location: Vishakhapatnam Job Type: Full-time Experience Required: - Minimum 3 years of experience for candidates with B.Tech/BE in Mechanical or Civil Engineering. - Minimum 6 years of experience for candidates with Diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering. - Must have hands-on experience in refractory works along with hot & cold insulation Job Summary: The Refractory Engineer is responsible for the planning, execution, and supervision of refractory works, insulation works (hot & cold), in industrial projects. The engineer will ensure refractory materials and insulation systems are installed per project requirements, safety regulations, and industry standards. Key Responsibilities: 1. Refractory & Insulation Work Execution - Supervise and execute refractory installation, repair, and maintenance in industrial furnaces, kilns, boilers, and other high-temperature equipment. - Plan and oversee hot & cold insulation works including pipelines, equipment, and structures. - Select appropriate refractory materials such as fire bricks, cast able, ceramic fiber, and insulating concretes based on project specs and requirements/ needs. 2. Project Coordination & Supervision - Lead and monitor insulation and refractory teams for quality and safety compliance. - Coordinate with site teams for proper execution and meet project timelines. - Ensure adherence to engineering drawings, specifications, and client requirements . 3. Quality Control & Inspection - Conduct regular inspections to ensure proper refractory installation and insulation application. - Identify defects or failures in refractory linings and insulation systems and recommend corrective measures. - Ensure work aligns with international refractory and insulation standards (ASTM, API, ISO, BS). 4. Safety & Risk Management - Enforce safety protocols for refractory works, hot & cold insulation , - Ensure compliance with HSE regulations and implement risk mitigation strategies. - Conduct safety briefings and toolbox talks with workers. 5. Documentation & Reporting - Maintain records of materials, labour, and project progress. - Prepare technical reports, work completion certificates, and inspection documentation. - Communicate project updates to management and clients. Required Qualifications & Skills: - Education: - B.Tech/BE in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (Minimum 3 years of experience) . - Diploma in Mechanical or Civil Engineering (Minimum 6 years of experience) . - Technical Skills: - Hands-on experience in refractory installation and maintenance . - Expertise in hot & cold insulation . - Strong knowledge of refractory materials (fire bricks, castables, gunning materials, ceramic fibers). - Proficiency in reading and interpreting refractory drawings and insulation specifications. - Soft Skills: - Strong leadership and team management abilities. - Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting skills. - Effective communication and coordination with multidisciplinary teams. - Proficiency in computers ie MS office Preferred Experience: - Experience in refractory and insulation projects in oil & gas, petrochemical, power plants, or heavy industries . - Knowledge of thermal performance calculations and refractory testing procedures.
