Software Engineer II

This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Software Engineer II based in India. This is a hands-on software engineering role focused on maintaining and modernizing a business-critical billing workflow platform. You will work across desktop application development, SQL Server, automated testing, and ongoing platform enhancements. The role combines ownership of an established VB.NET application with opportunities to contribute to its transition toward modern web architecture. You will collaborate closely with BI, analytics, processing, and submission teams to turn business requirements into reliable technical solutions. The position offers exposure to technologies such as ASP.NET Core, Blazor, C#, Angular, Azure DevOps, and AI-assisted development tools. You will work in a collaborative, technology-driven environment with guidance from senior engineers while progressively expanding your technical ownership. Accountabilities: - Design, develop, maintain, and enhance a critical VB.NET WinForms desktop application supporting monthly billing workflows. - Develop and optimize T-SQL queries, stored procedures, database components, and SQL Server Agent jobs. - Build new features, system enhancements, and performance improvements as part of an ongoing platform modernization initiative. - Contribute to the migration toward a modern web-based architecture, including technologies such as ASP.NET Core and Blazor, under the guidance of senior engineers. - Write, maintain, and expand automated unit, functional, and regression tests to improve platform reliability and test coverage. - Participate in code reviews and consistently follow established coding standards, development practices, style guidelines, and code-audit processes. - Work with BI, Analyst, Processing, and Submission stakeholders to understand billing workflow requirements and translate them into robust software solutions. - Contribute to technical design discussions covering both the existing platform and its future architecture. - Investigate and resolve application and database issues while supporting performance, stability, and maintainability. - Use AI-assisted development tools, including Claude Code or comparable solutions, to improve development efficiency and code quality. - Estimate and deliver well-defined software solutions while progressively taking greater technical ownership. - Collaborate with senior engineers and cross-functional stakeholders to support continuous improvement of the platform. Requirements: - 3–5 years of hands-on professional software development experience. - Strong practical experience with VB.NET and .NET Framework , including development and maintenance of production applications. - Hands-on experience building and maintaining WinForms desktop applications , including MDI architecture. - Strong T-SQL and SQL Server capabilities, including database design, query optimization, stored procedures, and SQL Server Agent scheduling. - Experience developing and maintaining automated tests within a .NET environment, including unit, functional, or regression testing. - Fluent English communication skills at approximately C1 level or equivalent, with the ability to collaborate effectively with technical and business stakeholders. - Ability to translate business requirements into well-designed, estimable, and maintainable software solutions. - Understanding of financial systems, billing processes, and invoicing terminology is highly desirable. - Exposure to C#, ASP.NET Core, Blazor, or Entity Framework Core is an advantage. - Familiarity with Angular is a plus. - Experience with Azure DevOps , including Boards and Pipelines, as well as GitHub and code-quality tools such as SonarQube, is beneficial. - Experience using Claude Code or other AI-assisted software development tools is preferred. - Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and commitment to software quality. - Willingness to learn, work collaboratively, and progressively expand technical ownership with support from senior engineers.
