About the Opportunity We are seeking experienced Frontend Engineers to evaluate AI-generated web interfaces and code. Rather than building new products, you will compare AI-generated frontend implementations against real-world reference websites and determine which implementation is more accurate, robust, and well-constructed. This role is ideal for frontend or full-stack engineers with strong HTML, CSS, JavaScript, responsive design, browser DevTools, and web development fundamentals , including the ability to evaluate both how a page looks and how it is built. Important: This project is evaluation-focused, not frontend authoring. What You'll Do - Run a reference website and two AI-generated implementations locally. - Evaluate each implementation at a 1920×1080 viewport and across required interactive states. - Compare visual fidelity, including: - Layout, spacing, and box model - Typography and text styling - Colors, borders, and visual treatments - Images and asset handling - Z-index, overflow, and positioning - Inspect the underlying HTML, CSS, and JavaScript to assess implementation quality. - Identify whether an implementation genuinely recreates the interface or relies on shortcuts such as excessive hardcoding, inappropriate absolute positioning, or screenshot-based rendering. - Test responsive behavior and identify layout defects at different viewport sizes. - Provide specific, evidence-based explanations supporting every preference. - Determine whether a task is genuinely broken or simply difficult and should still be evaluated. Requirements - 3–8 years of professional web development experience , primarily in frontend or full-stack development. - Strong command of HTML and CSS , including: - Semantic HTML - Flexbox - CSS Grid - Media queries - Responsive design - Legacy float- and table-based layouts - Strong understanding of browser rendering and frontend architecture. - Comfortable using Browser DevTools , including inspecting elements, computed styles, viewport dimensions, and interactive behavior. - Comfortable working from the command line, including extracting archives and running local development servers. - Working knowledge of JavaScript sufficient to read and understand DOM-manipulating scripts. - Ability to evaluate both modern and legacy web interfaces. - Strong written English and the ability to provide precise, evidence-based technical reasoning. - Availability for 2–3 hour contiguous work sessions , as each evaluation unit is timed. Equipment & Technical Setup You will need: - A desktop or laptop capable of displaying a 1920×1080 viewport . - A real local development environment. - Administrator access to your computer to install and run a local server. - Ability to download, extract, inspect, and run website source files locally. Tablets, Chromebooks, or locked-down devices that cannot run a local static server are not suitable for this project. Nice to Have - Previous AI evaluation, RLHF, preference labeling, or structured code-review experience. - Pixel-perfect design-to-code experience. - Accessibility expertise, including ARIA, semantic landmarks, and heading hierarchy . - Familiarity with common LLM-generated coding errors. - Experience with web scraping, website archiving, or DOM parsing. - Experience working with messy or legacy website codebases. - Multiple completed engagements on similar evaluation projects. Important Project Eligibility This opportunity is intended for practicing web developers with strong frontend skills. Backend-only, ML/data science-only, mobile-native, and DevOps-only backgrounds are not suitable for the role. Designers without coding experience and developers who have only worked within component libraries without hands-on CSS experience may also struggle with the evaluation requirements. Prior project experience: You must have completed at least one previous engagement with the platform in full . This project is not onboarding new experts without prior completed engagement experience. Contract Details - Independent contractor engagement. - Fully remote. - Flexible scheduling, subject to the requirement for contiguous multi-hour work sessions. - Each evaluation unit typically takes 2–3 hours and is timed. - Projects may be extended, shortened, or concluded early depending on project requirements and performance. - Payments are made weekly based on services rendered. - H-1B and STEM OPT candidates are not currently supported. - Work will not require access to confidential or proprietary information belonging to another employer, client, or institution. Why Join - Apply your frontend expertise to the evaluation of AI-generated code . - Work on challenging real-world web interfaces across different eras and development styles. - Help improve the visual fidelity, responsiveness, architecture, and reliability of AI-generated frontend code. - Contribute to the development and evaluation of next-generation AI systems. Ideal Candidate: A hands-on frontend engineer with strong HTML/CSS fundamentals, excellent visual judgment, browser and debugging expertise, and the ability to explain precisely why one implementation is technically and visually superior to another.
