Job Overview Position: Area Sales Manager – Passenger Vehicles Department: Sales Employment Type: Regular Reporting To: Zonal Sales Manager Location: Jaipur / Mumbai / Ahmedabad / Hyderabad / Pune Role Purpose The Area Sales Manager will support the achievement of sales and market development objectives within the assigned territory by working closely with dealerships and the OEM sales team. The role focuses on driving retail sales performance, dealer engagement, sales process adherence, market intelligence, and execution of business initiatives. The incumbent will act as a key field representative, helping dealerships improve sales effectiveness, customer engagement, and overall business performance while ensuring smooth execution of company programs and campaigns. Key Responsibilities Sales Performance Support - Drive achievement of retail sales targets within the assigned territory. - Support dealerships in lead generation, enquiry management, and retail conversion activities. - Monitor dealership sales performance and share regular updates with the reporting manager. - Assist in implementation of sales plans and business initiatives to improve territory performance. Dealer Coordination - Maintain regular engagement with dealership sales teams and dealer management. - Support implementation of sales processes, retail standards, and promotional activities. - Conduct periodic dealer visits to review sales performance and identify improvement opportunities. - Ensure timely communication of OEM programs, schemes, and sales campaigns. Market Development - Identify opportunities to improve market coverage and increase retail sales. - Support local marketing activities, roadshows, customer events, and product promotion initiatives. - Assist dealerships in strengthening customer outreach and lead generation efforts. - Track market trends and customer requirements within the assigned territory. Sales Operations & Reporting - Monitor retail, booking, enquiry, and test-drive performance metrics. - Maintain territory sales reports and dealer performance trackers. - Provide timely and accurate business updates to the reporting manager. - Support sales forecasting and market planning activities. Customer Experience - Encourage dealerships to deliver a positive customer purchase experience. - Assist in addressing customer concerns related to sales processes, where required. - Promote best practices in customer engagement and relationship management. Market Intelligence - Track competitor activities, new product launches, pricing changes, and promotional campaigns. - Gather customer and dealer feedback from the market. - Share actionable insights to support business decisions and sales planning. Educational Qualifications - Graduate in any discipline. - MBA / PGDM in Sales & Marketing preferred but not mandatory. Experience - 3–7 years of experience in automotive sales, dealership sales, channel sales, or related industries. - Experience in Passenger Vehicle, Two-Wheeler, Commercial Vehicle, Consumer Durable, FMCG, or Channel Sales environments will be considered. - Prior experience in dealer handling will be an advantage. Desired Skills - Good communication and interpersonal skills. - Strong relationship management capabilities. - Basic understanding of dealer operations and sales processes. - Ability to analyze sales performance and identify opportunities. - Proficiency in MS Excel, PowerPoint, and reporting tools. - Self-driven and comfortable working in a field-based role. - Willingness to travel extensively within the assigned territory.
