Senior Quality Engineer I - Automation App and Web Position: Senior Quality Engineer I, Automation App and Web Department: - Global Digital Discipline: - Digital Products Engineering / Quality Engineering Band: Choose an item. Position Summary: The Senior Quality Engineer I, Automation App and Web is responsible for ensuring the quality, reliability, and performance of Marriotts global digital web platforms through the design and implementation of scalable, maintainable automated testing solutions. In this role, you will lead automation-first and AI-enabled quality engineering practices to deliver secure, reliable, and seamless guest experiences at scale. Youll work closely with Product, Engineering, Data, Security, and Operations teams to ensure end-to-end quality. The position emphasizes validating both front-end browser interactions and API integrations within Marriotts Web and App ecosystem. You will collaborate with cross-functional digital teams to deliver high-quality releases using tools and technologies such asAppium/Kotlin/XCTest/XCUITest/Swift, Selenium, React Playwright, BrowserStack, REST, GraphQL, and modern CI/CD pipelines This is a hands on senior individual contributor role requiring strong technical depth, collaboration skills, and a passion for modern test automation. Key Responsibilities: - Design, build, and maintain scalable automation frameworks for Mobile Apps and web using modern tools and best practices. - Develop and maintain automated tests for large scale Mobile Apps, Web and mobile web applications, and cross device coverage. - Develop automated tests using Appium/Kotlin/XCTest/XCUITest/Swift, Selenium, Cursor, and Playwright - Integrate Mobile and Web automation and API test suites into CI/CD pipelines to support continuous testing and high quality releases. - Partner with developers, product owners, and QE leads to ensure testability, clear acceptance criteria, and comprehensive quality coverage. - Perform root cause analysis on defects and collaborate with engineering teams to validate fixes. - Implement regression, visual validation, and accessibility testing to reduce manual testing effort and improve coverage. - Drive shift left quality engineering practices and provide technical guidance and mentoring to other QE and SDET team members. - Improve automation reporting, test data management, and environment readiness. - Own automation quality for one or more major App domains or platforms. - Contribute to Quality Engineering Center of Excellence (COE) standards, reusable frameworks, and shared testing accelerators. Required Qualifications: - Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience. - 4+ years of experience in software quality engineering with a strong focus on Mobile and API automation . - Hands on experience with modern test automation frameworks and tools, including: - Appium,Selenium WebDriver with Java and TestNG or JUnit - Playwright with JavaScript or TypeScript - BrowserStack or similar cloud based cross browser testing platforms - REST API testing tools such as Postman, REST Assured, ReadyAPI or equivalent - GraphQL API testing, including queries, mutations, and schema validation - Cursor, Co-pilot and other AI tools - Strong programming skills in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript - Appium/Kotlin/XCTest/XCUITest/Swift (App Automation) - Selenium WebDriver, Playwright/React (Web Automation) - Experience integrating automated tests into CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Harness, or equivalent. - Proven ability to design and execute complex testing strategies beyond basic functional testing. - Strong programming skills in Java, JavaScript/TypeScript or Python for Web Test Automation - Strong programming skills in Swift and/or Kotlin for App Test Automation - Strong debugging, problem solving, and analytical skills. - Experience working in fast paced Agile/Scrum environments. - Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Preferred Qualifications: - Familiarity with Mobile and Web Automation and BrowserStack, and any other cloud-based devices. - Experience with containerized or distributed test execution environments (Docker, Kubernetes). - Experience in testing microservices and distributed systems. - Experience with AI assisted development or testing tools (e.g., GitHub Copilot, Cursor) to improve automation development productivity. - Experience testing AI enabled web or API based applications is a plus. - Knowledge of Marriott digital platforms or prior experience in hospitality, travel, or e commerce domains is a plus.
