Data Engineer

Data Engineer As an experienced Data Engineer / Big Data Engineer at Valmet, you will contribute to the design and implementation of Modern Data Platforms, develop scalable and innovative data architectures, and transform complex data into valuable insights for our clients. Projects may be delivered both on-premises and in cloud environments, depending on customer needs, architecture constraints, and project scope. In this role, you will play a key part in the following activities: - Designing and implementing modern data architectures, including Data Platforms, Data Mesh, Lambda/Kappa architectures, and scalable data ecosystems supporting analytics and AI use cases - Modeling, analyzing, and developing Big Data solutions - Implementing data integration, transformation, data quality, and data pipeline processes - Working with structured, semi-structured, and time-series data from industrial environments - Applying best practices in Data Governance, data security, scalability, and performance optimization - Supporting the technical definition of data solutions across both cloud and on-premises infrastructures Your Profile - Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Data Science, Artificial Intelligence, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, Automation Engineering, or another technical/scientific discipline - Minimum 3 years of professional experience in Data Engineering, Big Data Engineering, or similar roles - Experience in data modeling on modern data architectures, spanning relational databases such as PostgreSQL, NoSQL systems, time-series databases such as TimescaleDB, and Big Data technologies built on open-source ecosystems - Knowledge of Big Data frameworks and technologies such as Apache Spark, Hadoop, and Kafka - Experience in designing Big Data architectures and modern Data Warehouses - Familiarity with DevOps processes, CI/CD principles, and Data Virtualization concepts - Experience with cloud environments and/or virtualized infrastructures is considered a plus - Ability to work in distributed architectures, including solutions deployed on VM-based environments - Fluent English, both written and spoken What We Offer - Challenging and innovative technical projects - Collaborative work environment - Opportunity to learn about tissue machinery technology We offer: We offer you a rewarding position in a global industry leader in pulp, paper and energy industries with the possibilities to grow professionally.
