Lead Alation Developer – Data Governance & Data Catalog

Job Title: Lead Alation Developer – Data Governance & Data Catalog Experience Level: 8–14 Years Location: Hyderabad / Pune Qualification: BTech/MTech/MCA Mode of Work: Hybrid We are looking for an experienced Lead Alation Developer to lead the implementation, configuration, integration, and administration of Alation Data Catalog for a large global enterprise. The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Alation, Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Cataloging, Data Lineage, Data Quality, and Data Stewardship , along with experience working with modern cloud data platforms. Key Responsibilities: - Lead the design, configuration, development, and administration of Alation Data Catalog . - Configure data sources, metadata ingestion, custom fields, templates, tags, policies, and governance workflows. - Implement and maintain data lineage, business glossary, data dictionary, data classification, and data stewardship capabilities. - Integrate Alation with enterprise data platforms and automate metadata onboarding. - Develop integrations using Alation APIs, REST APIs, SQL, and Python . - Monitor and troubleshoot metadata ingestion, crawler jobs, integrations, and catalog issues. - Collaborate with Data Owners, Data Stewards, Data Architects, Data Engineers, and business stakeholders. - Define and implement data governance and data quality standards. - Lead/mentor Alation developers and provide technical guidance. - Participate in solution design, technical discussions, and stakeholder presentations. Requirements - 8–14 years of experience in Data Management, Data Governance, Data Engineering, or related areas. - Strong hands-on experience with Alation Data Catalog . - Experience in Alation implementation, configuration, administration, and integrations . - Strong understanding of Data Governance, Metadata Management, Data Lineage, Data Quality, and Data Stewardship . - Strong SQL skills and experience with Python/scripting . - Experience with REST APIs and Alation APIs . - Experience working with Snowflake, Databricks, AWS, Azure, or other modern data platforms . - Strong communication and stakeholder management skills. - Experience leading or mentoring technical teams.
