Key Responsibilities - Design, develop, and optimize Azure-native, cloud-based integration solutions . - Build scalable integration services using TypeScript/Node.js and Azure SDKs . - Develop serverless solutions using Azure Functions and containerized microservices using Azure Container Apps or AKS . - Analyze and reverse-engineer existing integration flows, even when documentation is limited. - Identify source systems, target systems, data transformations, interfaces, dependencies, and integration contracts. - Migrate legacy and non-Azure integration patterns into modern Azure architectures. - Translate MuleSoft/DataWeave-based integrations into Azure services and TypeScript-based transformation logic . - Design event-driven architectures using Azure Service Bus, Event Grid, and Event Hubs . - Implement robust retry, error handling, dead-lettering, idempotency, deduplication, and message-ordering strategies. - Design and implement APIs using Azure API Management . - Integrate with enterprise and external systems including Salesforce, REST APIs, GraphQL, Azure SQL, and other downstream platforms . - Implement high-volume transaction ingestion and processing using Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 . - Build secure solutions using Azure Key Vault and Managed Identity . - Implement structured logging, distributed tracing, correlation IDs, monitoring, and diagnostics using Azure Monitor and Application Insights . - Containerize applications using Docker and optimize container images for production workloads. - Develop CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, or GitHub Actions . - Implement Infrastructure as Code using Terraform . - Support rolling, blue-green, and environment-specific deployments across development, test, and production . - Analyze production issues, identify root causes, and implement performance and reliability improvements. - Work independently and collaborate effectively with distributed/offshore engineering teams. Mandatory Experience - 7–10+ years of experience in enterprise integration development. - Extensive hands-on experience delivering production Azure integration solutions . - Strong expertise in JavaScript/TypeScript and Node.js . - Proven experience developing scalable Azure Functions, microservices, and integration services using TypeScript. - Strong experience with Azure Service Bus , including queues, topics, subscriptions, retries, message settlement, and DLQs. - Hands-on experience with Azure Event Grid and/or Event Hubs . - Production experience with Azure Container Apps and/or AKS . - Experience with Azure API Management . - Strong understanding of Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 . - Hands-on experience with Azure Key Vault and Managed Identity . - Experience with Azure Monitor and Application Insights . - Strong Docker/containerization experience. - Experience implementing CI/CD using Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, or GitHub Actions . - Experience with Terraform/IaC . - Proven ability to analyze and migrate integrations from platforms such as MuleSoft or other ESBs into Azure . Integration & API Experience Candidates should have hands-on experience integrating with: - Salesforce REST and Bulk APIs - RESTful APIs - GraphQL APIs - Azure SQL - Event-driven systems - Commerce, order, and payment processing platforms - High-volume transaction and data ingestion systems Experience should include: - API rate-limit management - Retry and backoff strategies - Timeout handling - Idempotency - Deduplication - Message ordering - Dead-letter queues - Error recovery - Transaction correlation - API and event versioning Azure Technical Skills Strong production experience with: - Azure Functions - Azure Container Apps / AKS - Azure App Service - Azure API Management - Azure Service Bus - Azure Event Grid - Azure Event Hubs - Azure Data Lake Storage Gen2 - Azure Key Vault - Managed Identity - Azure Monitor - Application Insights TypeScript & Development Skills - Advanced proficiency in TypeScript and Node.js . - Experience using the Azure SDK for JavaScript/TypeScript . - Strong understanding of asynchronous programming and event-driven processing. - Ability to build reusable and maintainable integration components. - Experience implementing complex data transformations in TypeScript as an alternative to tools such as DataWeave . - Strong understanding of JSON, JSON Schema, API contracts, and event schemas. - Experience designing canonical data models and versioned integration contracts. - Strong unit, integration, and contract-testing practices. - Ability to optimize TypeScript services for high-volume workloads. DevOps & Cloud Engineering - Strong experience building and optimizing Docker images . - Experience deploying containerized workloads to Azure. - Hands-on CI/CD implementation using Azure DevOps, Bitbucket, or GitHub Actions. - Strong Terraform experience for infrastructure provisioning and environment management. - Experience implementing dev/test/prod environment isolation . - Experience with rolling, blue-green, or zero/minimal-downtime deployment strategies. - Understanding of secure configuration and secret management across environments. Integration Architecture & Reliability The candidate should be able to independently design solutions addressing: - Scalability and throughput - Fault tolerance - Retry and recovery - Idempotent processing - Duplicate message handling - Message ordering - Dead-letter processing - Rate limiting - Back-pressure - API resiliency - Observability - Security - Data consistency - Disaster recovery The candidate should also be able to clearly explain architectural trade-offs and justify the selection of Azure services for a given integration requirement. Migration & Modernization Experience A key requirement is the ability to modernize existing enterprise integrations . The candidate should be comfortable: - Reading and understanding existing MuleSoft/ESB flows. - Reverse-engineering integrations without complete documentation. - Understanding routing, filtering, transformation, enrichment, exception handling, and orchestration logic. - Identifying dependencies between source and target systems. - Translating DataWeave transformations into TypeScript. - Mapping legacy messaging and integration patterns to Azure-native services. - Identifying opportunities to simplify and improve existing integration architectures. - Designing migration approaches that minimize business disruption. - Validating functional equivalence between legacy and Azure implementations. Certifications Preferred certifications include: - Microsoft Certified: Azure Solutions Architect Expert (AZ-305) - Microsoft Certified: Azure Developer Associate (AZ-204) - Azure integration/security-related certifications are an advantage. Certifications are considered supplementary; hands-on production experience is the primary requirement . Operating Expectations The successful candidate should: - Work independently with minimal technical supervision. - Own integrations from requirements through design, development, deployment, and production support . - Be comfortable working with incomplete documentation and ambiguous integration requirements. - Demonstrate strong troubleshooting and analytical skills. - Communicate architecture and technical trade-offs clearly. - Work effectively with distributed and offshore teams. - Take ownership of production reliability, performance, and maintainability. Important Exclusions Candidates whose experience is primarily in the following areas will not be suitable: - Logic Apps-only or predominantly low-code integration development. - Azure theoretical knowledge without substantial production delivery experience. - MuleSoft development without meaningful Azure migration experience. - Candidates who have only built POCs/labs rather than enterprise production integrations. - Candidates unable to explain how MuleSoft/DataWeave concepts translate into Azure services and TypeScript implementations . Ideal Candidate Profile The ideal candidate is a hands-on senior integration engineer who combines: Enterprise Integration + Azure + TypeScript/Node.js + Event-Driven Architecture + Containerization + DevOps + Migration/Modernization They should be able to take an existing enterprise integration, understand how it works, determine the appropriate Azure-native architecture, implement it in TypeScript , deploy it using modern DevOps practices, and operate it reliably in production.
