API Developer

HCLTech is looking for an experienced API Developer with strong backend engineering expertise to design develop secure and support enterprisegrade APIs and microservices This role requires handson experience in APIfirst development integration with internal and external systems performance optimization and working in Agile delivery teams Key Responsibilities Design develop test and maintain RESTful APIs and microservices for enterprise applications Work closely with architects business analysts product owners and integration teams to understand requirements and deliver scalable API solutions Develop clean secure reusable and maintainable backend code using technologies such as Java Spring Boot Node js Python or equivalent frameworks Implement authentication authorization API security controls logging exception handling and monitoring standards Integrate APIs with internal systems thirdparty platforms databases and cloudnative services Support CI CD automation deployment and release activities across development test and production environments Troubleshoot API performance issues production defects integration failures and service availability concerns Prepare and maintain API documentation using Swagger OpenAPI and ensure adherence to coding and documentation standards Participate in Agile ceremonies sprint planning estimation code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives Mentor junior developers and promote best practices in API development security and engineering excellence Required Skills and Experience 5 to 10 years of handson experience in backend application development and API development Strong experience in REST API design microservices architecture and distributed application development Proficiency in one or more backend technologies such as Java Spring Boot Node js Python C or equivalent Good understanding of API security standards including OAuth 2 0 JWT TLS authentication and authorization mechanisms Experience with relational and nonrelational databases such as PostgreSQL Oracle SQL Server MongoDB or equivalent Handson experience with API testing and documentation tools such as Postman Swagger OpenAPI JMeter or similar Experience working with CI CD tools Gitbased source control build pipelines and automated deployment processes Exposure to cloud platforms such as AWS Azure or Google Cloud Platform Knowledge of containerization and orchestration tools such as Docker and Kubernetes will be an advantage Strong debugging analytical problemsolving and production support skills Qualification and Competencies Bachelors or masters degree in computer science Information Technology Engineering or a related discipline Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively with crossfunctional teams and client stakeholders Ability to understand business requirements and translate them into robust technical solutions Strong ownership mindset with focus on quality delivery timelines security and operational stability Experience working in Agile Scrum delivery models Preferred Skills Experience with API gateways or API management platforms such as Apigee Kong Azure API Management or AWS API Gateway Exposure to DevOps practices cloudnative architecture observability tools and enterprise integration patterns Knowledge of GraphQL gRPC eventdriven architecture or messaging platforms will be an added advantage Prior experience in clientfacing delivery enterprise application modernization or largescale integration programs Work Expectations Demonstrate accountability for assigned deliverables and ensure timely completion with quality Follow HCLTech delivery governance coding standards information security practices and clientspecific processes Collaborate effectively with onsite offshore client and thirdparty teams Support continuous improvement automation knowledge sharing and operational excellence initiatives
